"Bass is a strong instrument; you can't allow yourself to play it weakly, with no authority.
You've got to play with an attitude, because everybody's listening to the bass."

John Toney....Bass Player Extraordinaire
John Toney, also known as JT, is a Florida-raised bass player who began his career as a teenager in Miami performing professionally at corporate functions, jazz clubs, and community events. After receiving a full scholarship to Florida A&M University, he became a first choice bass player in the area. Since 2003, John Toney has been touring with national and international Broadway plays as their bassist. This allowed him to share his musical talents with people from every state in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. John has also toured with local blues artist Big Daddy and the Red Hot Java on two major European tours across the countries of England, Ireland, France, Germany and Austria. While working on Big Daddy's recording of his first blues album, John was able to meet with Florida jazz legends Longineu Parsons, whom he recorded one album with, and Ted Shumate, whom he recorded two albums with. In 2009, John Toney produced and recorded a collection of tunes titled "The Cognac Samples." A successful compilation, the project has received raving reviews from all of its listeners. John has recently signed with Tacatantan Records of Orlando, and has been closely working with Certified Proof Productions of Miami to share his solo projects with the world. Always focused on progressing his career to higher plateau, John Toney worked with the owners of JazzTastings to create the JazzTastings Quartet in search of bringing a contemporary jazz fusion live music experience to the venue. A success so far, John Toney is patiently waiting and ambitiously exploring for his next musical opportunity as a bass player.
